Dialogue

I'm happy that this project is over with! I worked and worked and rework this project so many times , I lost count. However, I appreciate the over all purpose of the project. My final project is posted above. I feel that I have a new approach to creating dialogue with in a interior space. So thank you Tommy!

Compare and Contrast

Part of our morning critique was to compare two projects of our classmates. I choose to compare Catlyans' project with Marlyin project. Both project where different in size and shape and overall presentation. Both project were construct using parallel direction, which helped to create a sense of space between the two objects. They way that both pieces face each other create, a sense of dialogue that can be clearly seen.

Abstract Designs

This project was really different. I had to construct 4 object from a abstract pattern that I made. What do you think?

Interior Space

This sketch is of the Vintage store on Tate Street. I love this store!

The sketches above and below are of the coffee house on Tate street. I found out that people really don't want you taking their pictures. Not even for homework.

Nature vs Nature

Materials: tree bark: leaf: metal safety pin

How do you combine two objects directly from nature with a single binding agent? This was my attempt. I wanted to make this as simple as possible but I found out that simple is hard to do.

64,32,16,8,4!

Who knew numbers could be so fun?
This project taught me the principle of zooming in and minimizing objects. I started off with two objects : my cell phone and a couple of found sticks.

Each sheet shows a different perspective of the object in a abstract way. From each sheet I produced a different number of thumbnails. I tried different compositions and techniques to achieve a the unique motifs shown.

Unity

Materials: 12 x 12 plane: 12 skewers: 4x6 cards ( Bristol)

This image is my first attempt to imply unity between two objects.

My first thoughts: Where do I start?

I have to honest this was hard for me to start
this project. I wasn't sure what this project looked like or what it was suppose to look like. I really had to sit down and brain storm. I had so many ideas, so

started with the idea that seem to be the most interesting one: Origami.

The different folds in the cards gave me ideas of how to position the skewers. While I was folding the cards, I realized how much the fold began to look like petals, that's where my second thought of creating a orchid evolved.

The second image shows how I interrupted this idea and created this unity among the two materials.

A special design for a special object

I collect pennies. Not just any kind of pennies but pennies that I find when I am traveling, at school , shopping, church, etc. The pennies that I collect are kind like good luck charms that remind me to stay focus and stay on the right path.
This project was about creating a special item for a special object that has personal value. This was my first attempt. It needed a lot of work. I had a abstrac ideat of creating a water fountain that I could place my pennies in. I started with a cardboard box and my collection of pennies.

Since we could only use thread, fabric and paper, this was my initial thought. The second picture is my final project reworked after critique.
